Operator profiles
Who is running the service, and what each person's app remembers.
A profile is a person who runs services on this computer. It keeps its own language, its own view preferences and its own history, so the app you open is the one you left.
One to start with
One profile, unnamed, no password, no role. Nothing to set up and nothing to choose on launch. Most churches never need more.
More than one
Add as many profiles as you like, free. A second profile means a second person, which means a rota, which is the point at which the split matters:
- Admin can change themes, screens and backups.
- Operator runs the service and cannot rearrange the setup underneath it.
Add one in Settings → Profiles. The first profile on an install is always an admin, and the last admin cannot be deleted or demoted, so an install can never lock everyone out of its own settings.
Passwords
A profile can carry a password. It guards the profile, not the computer: it stops a volunteer opening the admin’s profile by accident, and is not encryption.
If a password is lost, ask the app for a reset from the profile picker. It writes a file with a code in it onto this computer, tells you the folder, and the code works for a few minutes. That deliberately requires being at the machine: it is a reset for the person standing in the booth, not a way in from somewhere else.
Switching
Switch Profile in the app menu returns to the picker. What is on the projector keeps running while you do it.
Who is in your church, and what their phone can do, is a different question: see People and phones.
