Speakers

Who is preaching, their lower third, and the history kept for them.

A speaker is whoever is preaching. Recording them buys three things: a lower third to introduce them, a history of what they read, and the translations they preach from, which follow them.

Add one

On the Speakers page in the sidebar, choose New speaker. The form opens beside the list, and the same form edits a speaker when you pick one. A name, and optionally:

  • Role, what they are introduced as on screen: Pastor, Guest speaker. Leave it empty to show the name alone.
  • A photo, picked from this computer.
  • A language, and a primary and secondary translation: selecting this speaker moves the Bible browser to their primary translation, and both of their translations sit at the top of the translation picker. See Translate Mode.

The lower third

Beside the speaker picker in the Bible controls is the button that introduces them. Double-click it to put the name and role on screen over whatever is already there; a single click only reminds you that it takes two. One click on the same button takes the introduction away again.

It also takes itself away: a lower third has a timeout, so an introduction you forget to hide does not sit under the sermon for forty minutes. How long it stays is Lower third duration in Settings → Overlays.

History per speaker

With a speaker selected, the passages you show are remembered against them. In a service with two preachers, each has their own trail rather than one mixed list.
