Library
Working offline
What the web app and each computer keep of your church's library, how to install the web app, and what happens when a computer is connected, disconnected or its church's plan ends.
Every computer and every browser that opens your church’s library keeps a copy of it. Songs, services, decks and the rest open and save without the internet, and what you changed goes to everyone else once you are back online. Nothing you save is lost because the connection dropped.
In the web app
The web app keeps the library on the device you open it on: a phone, a tablet or a laptop. The first time, it downloads every song, service and deck, and shows how far it has got. After that it opens at once, online or not.
Pictures and videos are downloaded when you open them rather than all at once, so a phone doesn’t fill up. What you have opened usually stays available offline, until the copy reaches 2 GB and the oldest files make room.
Install app in the menu puts BibleLook on your home screen, where it opens like an app, full screen. On an iPhone, tap Share in the browser bar, then Add to Home Screen.
Keep the library on this device in the menu asks the browser not to clear the copy when the device runs short of space. Installing the app does the same. The menu also shows how much space the library takes.
Sign out keeps the copy, so signing back in is quick. Sign out and remove offline data deletes it from the device too. If some of your changes have not been sent yet, it asks first.
If the library turns down a change, for example because someone deleted the folder you saved into, a bar says so, with Retry and Discard.
On a computer
When your church has BibleLook Plus, each of its computers keeps the whole library of the church and every workspace, with every picture, and the videos that are pinned or in a service within a week. A service runs from it with the router unplugged.
Without Plus, a computer keeps its own library, shown as On this computer.
- When the church gets Plus, everything in On this computer joins your church’s library, and screens keep their themes. Anything the church’s library can’t take, such as a file past the church’s storage, stays on the computer, and a notice says how many.
- When it is disconnected or removed from the church, it keeps a copy of the church’s library under On this computer first, each workspace as a folder named after it. Nothing on the computer is lost.
- When Plus ends, because a trial ran out or the church stopped paying, the computer keeps a copy the same way, and joins the church’s library again once Plus is back. In the web app the library can still be opened, but not changed. Ninety days after Plus ended, the church’s library is deleted from the cloud, and each computer keeps what it holds.
When two people change the same thing
Changes made apart all land: a rename on one computer and an edit on another, or two people editing different parts of one song. When two people change the same thing, the second is saved as a copy beside the first, named after whoever saved it, and a notice opens it. A deleted item someone was editing comes back with the edit. See The song library.
