Keyboard shortcuts
Change any key, give a key to any command, and run the screens from a clicker or a Stream Deck.
Every command in BibleLook can have a key, and every key can be changed. The keys belong to the computer: they stay the same whoever is signed in, and they go with the computer’s backup.
Change a key
Open Settings › Keyboard Shortcuts. Each command is listed with its keys.
- Click + beside a command and press the keys you want.
- Click a key to change it or remove it.
- Reset gives one command its usual keys back. Reset all does it for every command.
In the command palette (Cmd+K on a Mac, Ctrl+K on Windows), highlight a command and press Cmd+Enter (Ctrl+Enter) to give it a key straight away.
A key belongs to one command wherever both could run. If the key you press is taken, BibleLook names the command that has it, and you free it there first. The system’s own keys, like copy and paste, can’t be taken.
Operators and admins change the keys. A guest sees them.
Keys for the screens
Show next, Show previous, Select next, Select previous, Show the selected, Go to what is live and Clear the screens are one command each, on whichever page you are: the Bible, a song or a deck. Change Show next once and it changes everywhere.
Show next and Show previous also answer Page Down and Page Up, the keys most presentation clickers send.
These commands never run from the command palette, and never while you type in a field.
Keys that work in the background
Usually BibleLook hears keys only while it is the app in front. For a key that works while another app is in front, OBS for example, click the key and turn on Works in the background. A Stream Deck or a macro pad can then send it.
Only keys nobody presses by accident can work in the background: Cmd with Option or Shift on a Mac, Ctrl with Shift on Windows, or F13 to F24. If another app already holds the key, BibleLook says so, and the key works only while BibleLook is in front.
Commands in the menu bar
Settings, zoom, the chat panel, help and reload are in the menu bar, so their keys need Cmd on a Mac, Ctrl or Alt on Windows, or an F key.
