Connect to your church
Every computer connects to your church's account once, for free, from its own browser or with a code on another device.
BibleLook runs on a computer connected to your church’s account. Connecting is free, on as many computers as you like, and everything BibleLook does on the computer itself is free on each of them. It needs the internet only this once: after that, the computer runs a service offline.
Only an owner or an admin of the church can connect a computer.
Connect a computer
BibleLook opens on Connect this computer to your church. The language picker is in the top right corner.
- Choose Sign in with your browser. The computer’s browser opens your church’s account.
- Sign in. If you are already signed in to the account in that browser, the page skips this step.
- If you run more than one church, choose the one this computer is for.
- Check the computer’s name under Computer name and choose Connect.
BibleLook comes back to the front and says which church it joined, and Continue goes on to setup. If it stays behind the browser, choose Return to BibleLook on the page or switch to it yourself: it finishes connecting within a few seconds either way.
While it waits, BibleLook shows Waiting for you to confirm in the browser…. Open the browser again brings the page back if you closed it, and Cancel drops the request.
Use another device
For a computer where nobody should sign in to a browser, such as the one in the booth, choose Use another device under the main button. BibleLook shows a QR code, a short code and an address.
- Scan the QR code with your phone, or open the address on any device.
- Sign in to your church’s account.
- Check the computer’s name under Computer name and choose Connect.
Within a few seconds the computer says which church it joined. If you did not start the request, choose Cancel on the page instead. Back on the computer returns to the browser button.
A code lasts 15 minutes, and a new one takes its place when it runs out.
A church with no account
Create one as you connect. When nobody is signed in, the page that opens in the browser, or on the phone that scanned the code, offers Create your church’s account: enter your email and the church’s name, then the code that arrives by email. The account is free, and you come straight back to connect the computer.
Or sign up first, in your church’s account on the web. Its overview then takes you through two steps: download BibleLook, then connect it. On a phone, where BibleLook does not install, it emails you the download links instead.
Online features
Connecting is all a computer needs to run a service. The features that run on our servers, the cloud library with team chat, the phone remote, web screens over the internet and Follow along with live captions, come with BibleLook Plus, one plan for the whole church, on every computer it connects. A church can try it free for 30 days.
Offline
A connected computer needs no internet to run a service. While it is online it checks in when it starts and every 12 hours, and each check-in renews its licence for 30 days. A computer offline past those 30 days keeps working. Once it is online again, it checks in at its next start, or at once with Check now under Settings → Account.
When a computer is removed
An owner or admin removes a computer under Devices with Revoke. A service already running on it carries on. The next time BibleLook starts there with the internet on, it shows the Connect screen again and deletes the keys to its Bible translations. The translation files stay on the computer, and connecting it again brings the keys back.
Disconnect
Settings → Account → Disconnect removes this computer from your church and stops BibleLook on it until it is connected again. The Connect screen shows at once, the translation keys go as they do for a removed computer, and the computer is revoked under Devices.
If BibleLook cannot reach your church’s account at that moment, the computer disconnects anyway, but it is still listed under Devices. BibleLook says so, and an owner or admin can revoke it there.
